Global Network Initiative

In partnership with the Center for Democracy and Technology and Business for Social Responsibility, in addition to leading human rights groups, academic institutions, socially responsible investment firms, and internet and communications technology (ICT) companies, the Berkman Center has participated in an initiative to protect and advance individuals' rights to free expression and privacy on the Internet through the creation of a set of principles and supporting mechanisms for ICT companies.

Consortium for Energy Policy Research at Harvard

The Consortium for Energy Policy Research at Harvard is dedicated to advancing Harvard's energy policy research and fostering collaboration across the University in cooperation with Harvard's Future of Energy initiative.

Future of Energy Initiative

The Future of Energy initiative is creating a university-wide framework for connecting scholars who work on energy related issues. The initiative's efforts are spearheaded by the Harvard University Center for the Environment, in partnership with Energy Policy Research Programs at the Harvard Kennedy School.

Sustainability Science Program

The Sustainability Science Program at Harvard's Center for International Development seeks to advance basic understanding of the dynamics of human-environment systems; to facilitate the design, implementation, and evaluation of practical interventions that promote sustainability in particular places and contexts; and to improve linkages between relevant research and innovation communities on the one hand, and relevant policy and management communities on the other.

Growth Lab at CID

Building on recent advances made by the so-called new growth theories, and by the empirical studies spurred by these theories, the Growth Lab will draw from its academic research and from its country-specific activities to further understand what social and economic processes determine the speed of productivity improvements and technology adoption, and how these differ depending upon the institutional environment of a society and its level of technological or financial development; how to identify in practical settings the most important constraints on growth when many aspects of an economy

Environment & Natural Resources Program

The Environment and Natural Resources Program's mandate is to conduct policy-relevant research at the regional, national, international, and global level, and through its outreach initiatives to make its products available to decision-makers, scholars, and interested citizens.

C. Roland Christensen Center for Teaching and Learning

The C. Roland Christensen Center for Teaching and Learning was established in 2004 to promote and support teaching excellence and innovation within Harvard Business School. It also provides leadership and expertise about case method teaching and participant-centered learning for instructors at other institutions in the United States and abroad. Named in honor of the late C. Roland Christensen, longtime HBS faculty member and legendary case method teacher, the Center's special focus is helping faculty develop as teachers.

Hauser Institute for Civil Society

The Hauser Institute for Civil Society at Harvard University is a university-wide center for the study of civil society and nonprofit organizations. The Hauser Institute seeks to expand understanding and accelerate critical thinking about civil society, its leaders and institutions among scholars, practitioners, policy makers and the general public by encouraging scholarship, developing curriculum, fostering mutual learning between academics and practitioners, and shaping policies that enhance the sector and its role in society.

The Harvard University Herbaria, with more than 5 million specimens, are one of the 10 largest Herbaria in the world in number of specimens, and along with the library, form the world's largest university owned herbarium.

HBS Global Initiative

The Global Initiative is anchored by a team based in Boston with close to 60 staff sitting in key regions around the world to contribute to the school’s global strategy and research. We play a critical role in the School’s efforts to build a deep understanding of and expertise in global business practice and innovation.
