Developing a Comparative Mindset in an Internationally Diverse Course: Real-World Policy Analysis Across Borders

The session explores how five integrated elements—flipped lectures, AI-powered learning agents, real-world client projects, a capstone conference, and book-chapter publication—cultivate comparative thinking across internationally diverse cohorts in a comparative education policy course taught residentially and online. Drawing on a review of 80 studies and course evaluation data, it argues structured cross-national interaction (not mere proximity) builds systems thinking and intercultural competence. The format includes a course overview, evidence review, live AI-agent demo, small-group discussion, and Q&A, aimed at educators across disciplines.
