The Cold War in the Classroom: Using Digital Archives to Build Historical Thinking

This day-long, in-person workshop introduces history and social studies educators to practical approaches for teaching the Cold War through readily available open-access materials. The program will include a historical lecture on the Cold War, a review of Cold War-related materials available through open-access digital collections and the Fung Library, and presentations by the developers of A Visual Guide to the Cold War. Participants will explore the archive’s resources and learn strategies for incorporating primary sources into classroom instruction through short demonstrations, discussion, and collaborative activities.
