Summer work or study in Russia.

This grant is made up of several funds, including the David Rockefeller International Experience Grant, which is a need-based grant aimed at students who have not previously received Harvard international funding. Also included is the Weissman International Internship Program Grant, for students who have obtained their internships independently and not through a structured program. Last year OCS funds partially or fully supported about 150 Harvard College students to pursue international internships, service, goal-related travel, and research assistantships.

OCS's competitively allocated funds may be used to support the 20+ Harvard Summer School Study Abroad courses taught by Harvard faculty or summer study abroad programs offered through other institutions (see Harvard's suggested programs list). OCS funds programs with a minimum duration of 5 weeks, although the majority of funds support programs of 8 weeks or longer.

The purpose of the grant is to afford all students the opportunity to take part in a significant international experience, regardless of financial background. As defined by the Committee on Education Abroad, a significant international experience may consist of: study abroad for credit, thesis or other research, internships (paid or unpaid), service work, other paid employment, non-credit courses taken abroad, or any combination of these. Experiences must be at least eight weeks in duration.

The Weissman International Internship Program provides funding for full-time overseas internships in any professional organization, including both the profit and nonprofit sectors. Applicants must be returning undergraduates and must have arranged for their own internship placements. Internship projects must be at least eight weeks in duration and will ordinarily take place during the summer.

Truman Scholarships provide funds up to $30,000 in scholarship support for graduate school. U.S. citizens or nationals with strong academic records and commitment to a career in government or public life are eligible. Applicants must be juniors.

The Steiner Community Service Fund provides incentive grants to support public service projects in the U.S. and overseas that involve novel, creative, innovative, or entrepreneurial approaches to community service needs in the communities to be served.

The Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study has several fellowship funds designed to assist Harvard undergraduates with a variety of summer, term-time, or postgraduate study, research, or travel projects.

The Michael Christian Fellowships provide for a summer of purposeful travel in a foreign culture for sophomores and juniors. For more information on this award, see the OCS Fellowships Office "Grants@Harvard" database.

Michael C. Rockefeller Memorial Fellowships fund a year of purposeful postgraduate travel in a foreign country for candidates at critical stages in their development who feel a need for a new and broadening experience.
