Harvard Gender Violence Project

The overarching goal of the Harvard Gender Violence Project is to elevate the status of South Asian women by engaging societies to reject violence and foster respect for all people. The Harvard Gender Violence Project (HGVP) is a collaboration between The Mittal Institute, Harvard Law School, Harvard Business School, and the FXB Center for Health and Human Rights, and regional experts working in the area of gender violence prevention and intervention programs.

The Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute

Founded in 2003 to further Harvard University’s engagement with South Asia, The Mittal Institute is a university-wide research institute at Harvard that engages faculty members, students, and in region institutions through interdisciplinary programs to disseminate knowledge, build capacity, inform policy, and engage with issues that are shaping South Asia today. With 2 billion people facing similar challenges throughout South Asia, there is a critical need for solutions and systems to support such a significant global population.

Diplomacy and International Politics Program

The Diplomacy and International Politics program comprises the Belfer Center’s signature projects on diplomacy and regional politics, including the Future of Diplomacy Project, the Middle East Initiative, the India and South Asia Project, and—in conjunction with the Harvard Law and Harvard Business Schools—the Secretaries of State Project. Though distinct in focus, all emphasize the essential role of diplomacy in preventing conflict and building a more secure, peaceful world.

Global Studies Outreach at Harvard

Global Studies Outreach at Harvard is a collaboration amongst regional and internationally focused centers and programs at Harvard that share a commitment to conduct educational outreach throughout New England and beyond. The primary goal of this collaboration is to help the general public, and especially K-12 teachers and students, better understand the complex world in which we live. We do this by organizing events and programming around global themes and preparing and disseminating resources for classroom use—both of which build on Harvard’s impressive human and material resources.

Regional Studies East Asia

Regional Studies East Asia is a vibrant interdisciplinary area studies program designed to accommodate a wide range of interests and needs for graduate training in the languages, societies and cultures of East Asia.  The program affords students interested in a professional career of engagement with Asia an opportunity to pursue a flexible and varied course of instruction related to their career interests; it also serves the needs of students who wish to enter a Ph.D.
